Part # 1872 of “Cleaning Out My Dad’s House”
So, the old house finally sold, and we cleaned EVERYTHING out. Now considering that my mother had three freaking years to get her crap out, this should have been quick and easy but there is/was a literal boatload of CRAP to move.
But there were a few treasures found. My father ran a construction company in the 70’s and 80’s and back then everyone gave everyone booze for Christmas presents. My parents didn’t drink so most of this went into the cabinet above the refrigerator. (I suspect the older sister got into a bit of the booze)
But we found three full bottles still in the box, an open bottle and a bottle of Seagram’s. All of these bottles still have the liquor tax seal on them.
One of the bottles is from 1976 and we were pretty excited that we going to have some super smooth almost 50 year old Bourbon, but I found out that whiskey stops aging when it’s put in the bottle. I sampled the open bottle and it’s still mighty fine !!!

Great find! My family never had boos left over …… anytime.
Seagrams isn’t bourbon. And, as you discovered, once it leaves the barrel, it doesn’t age, it just gets older. Still, enjoy your whiskey and remember the goodness of your family. regards, Alemaster

Addendum: I really got to start paying better attention. Three bottles of Beam! Enjoy your bourbon and have good thoughts for your family. respectfully, Alemaster
