So, on Saturday I’m in the front yard raking the thatch, acorns and recent storm debris when :
I HEARD IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A sound a man never forgets……………………….
1700 horse power, radial engines !!!
I just barely had time to pull my phone out and get a crappy photo of the B-25 that was flying overhead before it was out of sight.
I did not know a bomber was coming to the airport.
I can not imagine what a 1000 of these in the air would sound like !!
I could not find any notifications about it so I am guessing that it was just making a pit stop on the way to the Oshkosh airshow: B-25 Flights
I ended up raking a full yard waste bag of debris from the front yard, lots of acorns already and quite a bit of thatch.
On to the backyard.
I did manage to cut a few large branches from the mighty oak in the front yard.
I don’t have a fireplace but do have a nice backyard fire pit and this is good oak.
My brother’s little chainsaw makes quick work.
I don’t mind doing a lot of work by hand just for the exercise, but this would have been a bit much !!!

I had the incredible pleasure of hearing the 4 radials from “Sentimental Journey” only a few weeks ago. They were at roughly 1500′ feet and headed in to land at KCAE, Columbia SC. What beautiful music they make.
AWESOME !!!!
We stayed in New Bern several years ago and had quite a few Ospreys fly overhead.
I love aviation !!!!
Same here although there haven’t been many airshows in the last couple of years. I did go to the open house for the B-25C that they’re rehabilitating at KCUB / Owens Field. They have made excellent progress on it and we were able to speak with some of the mechanics that are working on her. Check this out Matthew…
