At first glance, the story of Rebekah Jones—a brave “COVID-19 scientist” standing up to a corrupt right-wing machine—looks like a bombshell. When the Florida Department of Health (DoH) fired her last May, Jones claimed she had been terminated for refusing to falsify case numbers to support Governor Ron DeSantis’ plans to reopen the economy. Overnight, she became a heroine. She launched her own COVID-19 dashboard, raised half a million dollars, and gathered a Twitter army of 378,000.
Jones shot to stardom because she lent a fresh face to a “Narrative.” According to The Narrative, Florida wasn’t supposed to be winning the fight against the pandemic. It’s full of high-risk seniors, teeming with tourists, and run by a Republican who is an unapologetic ally of former President Donald Trump. To liberal intelligentsia, the idea that DeSantis could handle COVID-19 better than mask-mandating lockdown enthusiasts like Andrew Cuomo or Gavin Newsom was unthinkable.
But by May, the facts had begun contradicting The Narrative. While blue states like New York and California were devastated by COVID-19 despite draconian lockdowns, Florida did relatively well. Per capita, New York has nearly double Florida’s COVID-19 fatalities—and unlike New York, Florida has been open for months.

Apparently “March Madness” occurred and I again completely missed all of it.
I did hear that the Georgetown team “kneeled” and then lost.
The headline says it all.
Just stick to making adequate, overpriced cookies.
You got one of the most popular men in America calling for a boycott of your product:
Now, for myself, I quit watching MLB sometime ago because of their social justice asswipery so my threat to boycott them falls short, but MLB did just guarantee my continuation of my not watching their product or buying their merchandise or watching commercials etc.
A police officer in Kentucky was fired Friday over allegations that he gave a Black Lives Matter organizer information about other officers working protests that could be used to “insult, intimidate and harass,” according to reports.
Officer Jervis Middleton of the Lexington Police Department was relieved of his duties following a unanimous vote by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council after a nine-hour hearing and two hours of closed deliberations, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.
Do cops have their own version of “Code Red?”
The fired officer initially denied sharing information with BLM leader Sarah Williams, a friend, but admitted it when he was shown text messages obtained through a search warrant, city lawyer Horn said.
Middleton’s lawyers argued he shouldn’t be fired because in their view the information he shared with Williams didn’t jeopardize officers’ safety and it should be considered free speech.
However, once an officer is proven to be a liar they are useless as a witness in court.
Middleton, who is Black, also claimed he had been racially discriminated against at the department by other officers but the department had not investigated his claims, WLKY-TV of Louisville reported.
The ratings for Super Bowl 55 are in, and the news is not good. The numbers show that viewership fell nine percent, making the game the lowest-rated Super Bowl in more than 50 years.
I genuinely sympathize and empathize with the little guys that work in and around the NFL business that are adversely affected by the moronic policies made by the idiots in charge.
But for the NFL asswipes in charge, Schadenfreude Boner !!!!!!!!
To quote the great philosopher Nelson Muntz:
HAW HAW !!
For obvious reasons, 2020 has been a bizarre year for sports.
But one major aspect of 2020 professional sports that fans might want to try and forget is the deluge of “woke” social justice protests that have proliferated the major three North American professional sports leagues.
While both MLB and the NFL had their own bouts of social justice demonstrations, no sports league tapped into those protests more than the NBA.
Yes, the NBA had a dissident or two, but the league, by and large, wholly embraced the “Black Lives Matter” movement. The NBA even went so far as to have “Black Lives Matter” emblazoned on the court during the duration of its bubble restart.
The NBA, however, fears that starting the season even in January could cost the league anywhere from $500 million to $1 billion in lost revenue, according to ESPN.
That’s a potential loss of up to $5 billion in revenue if the season starts in January and fans are not allowed to attend. That massive figure, even for a multibillion dollar entity, would be a very painful and bitter pill to swallow.
As ESPN pointed out, the current collective bargaining agreement includes a 50-50 revenue split between the players and the league. A massive drop in revenue would mean a steep drop in player salaries.
So it as simple as going woke and then going broke?
But at the very least, the NBA might want to significantly rethink its strategy of engaging in hyper-partisan politics and alienating its fans.
I couldn’t care less if the NBA went out of business. My only concern would be for all of the real workers behind the scene that are involved with making NBA work.
Althea Bernstein UPDATE: The United States Attorney’s Office has announced that authorities “could not establish that the attack” claimed by biracial Monona teenager Althea Bernstein “had occurred.” Thus, they closed the federal investigation into Bernstein’s claim that four white men poured a flammable liquid on her and lit it at an intersection near State Street last June, burning her face.
Excellent reporting by Jim Piwowarczyk.
# 1 Ms. Bernstein needs to be charged with at least filing a false police report. She either needs to admit er guilt in court or be convicted by the overwhelming evidence so that it is clear to to bLM/SJW crowd that she did in fact lie to THEM !!!
# 2 She needs to be convicted of the charge so in the future other hoaxers do not try to do the same thing. Far too many times the hoaxster is not held accountable.
